Similar issues have been reproduced with with Zeitung Mono, Operator Mono, IBM Plex Mono, Input Mono, Recursive. They visually kick back to the start of the line at different levels of indent and affect varying amounts of proceeding levels of indent.
Doesn't happen with Monaco, Inconsolata

Thanks, @frankrolf. Changing fonts makes it go away. I wonder what in the font makes it behave that way.

I experienced this too, long ago.
I remember it had to do with the choice of your coding font.

Sorry, I wish I could be of more help in diagnosing this. Here's another machine experiencing this with DB
3.115and OS10.14.4. Let me know if there’s any other pertinent information I could provide; otherwise we could probably live with it. Maybe something to do with the machine itself / touchbar?Machines experiencing:

It types in the correct position but appears to go to the beginning of the line. I tried typing
word:and thenEnter. Only happens after the secondword:.

I cannot reproduce this on my 10.13 and 10.15 machine...
only alt+enter brings me back to the beginning of the line.
