SOLVED RoboFont 101 or help me get started
-
Hello everybody :D
Just got RF4, first time user switched from FontLab.
There was obviously a little shock to get started but after some research and trial/error things are getting better.I have like a zillion questions about settings, workspace, mechanics, extensions, what to use and when?
So to formulate it very simple, my question is - How to get started? Please share your thoughts on what's important at the beginning:
- How to set up my workspace? (I saw some dark theme with greenish glyph fills, that looks nice)
- What tools/extensions to use/try?
- What should I learn/read/research? (I see there is lots of quality material on this forum :D )
- Other info that you think would be helpful.
Nice to meet you all, glad I'm here.

Hey @Nino, welcome! I wrote a bit about this exact topic on my blog somewhat recently:

One of the best features of RF for me is, that it’s a 101 app out of the box and you don’t necessarily NEED any extensions.
Start drawing and whenever you encounter a specific problem more than twice, chances are high that there is an extension for that (you can easily look them up in mechanic and the website, also there are tons on GitHub). That way you build your own workflow catered to your needs and you don’t have to get used to a predetermined way of how things work or get overwhelmed by a thousand of functions that you don’t need yet or know what they do :)

Hi @Nino!
The starting point is definitely the RF documentation
You can find several introductory articles in the topics section
Maybe you could start from these:
